How To use Social Media to Drive More Traffic to your Website

Saturday 29 November 2008 @ 8:03 pm

It’s fascinating how internet marketing has evolved. Right now, we’re on the cusp of a revolution in the social media. It’s been around for quite some time, but now it’s at the forefront and it’s something you need to pay attention to in business. Otherwise, you’ll get into trouble, because you won’t know what’s happening around you.

Right this second, millions of conversations are occurring online about millions of different things. What we do is take all the traditional Search Engine Optimization ideas to see where they now meld into social media research and social media optimization. It’s a new way to handle SEO, as opposed to building up search engine visibility and building links and setting up linking partnerships with people. It’s dying quickly.

So we set out to categorize the tens of thousands, maybe millions, of social networks, including forums, blogs, typical networking communities like MySpace and Facebook. We have categorized 23 different types of social media platforms that we will cover later.

How do we take all these technologies, classify them, see if they’re appropriate for our business, and then how do we actually get into that and make it so it’s effective and accepted by the communities, rather than being rejected?

So from aonline business standpoint, if I’m a Realtor, or I’m into network marketing, and I’m just trying to develop my own business online, social media isn’t just a bunch of college students exchanging pictures from last weekend. It’s where conversations are happening, and that applies to big business as well.

So what kind of conversations are going on out there? What are people talking about? Why is this social media something business people need to be aware of?

They’re plugging into the actual conversations. These are results and information that you can never garner through any kind of polling or surveying. It’s a real conversation, uncut and raw. You can go to just about any market that is social in nature and see what people are talking about. See what they’re saying. See what their concerns are.

Are they badmouthing one company and praising another? More and more, especially in the last couple of years, consumers are getting much more educated in how to research and find information that’s important to them. And they’re using social networks to do that. They’re going to their social peers in the social media community and they’re networking with people.

They’re following relationships where they track the words of others. They go to communities now where they say, “Hey. I have this problem I need help with.” And they get community recommendations and act on that information.

Now, they’re asking people. And those people could be in Washington, D.C., San Diego, or Tokyo. You don’t know where they’re at. More and more people are active in social networks. There is an exponential explosion in participation happening right now.

I’ve noticed that on Twitter, JetBlue is not only posting information about some crazy low fare they have, but I’m seeing Twitters when there’s a big weather problem. They let people know, and they let them know it’s causing trouble for some people.

Also, I’ve noticed that when someone sends a notice thru Twitter to JetBlue, a real person at that JetBlue account is actually responding back. And because of the way Twitter works, they’re responding in front of the whole world. That’s a huge revolution. It’s not like having a private conversation on customer support and nobody really knows what was said. These are customer service interactions happening right there in front of EVERYBODY!

And by JetBlue participating in that media, word travels fast that they are doing that. It’ll really lend them a lot of credibility and trust. They are plugged-in. Online Businesseshave to realize that they need to become part of the conversation in the social media. Nothing travels faster than word of mouth when you use these technologies.

So when people are looking at getting involved in social media and getting connected, probably the most important thing they need to realize is that you have this opportunity to really be active and connected with these people. And as you build that trust, they’re much more likely to come to you when they’re ready to dobusiness.

So it’s a different model. Instead of just going out there and making pitch after pitch until somebody finally raises their hand and says, “I’m interested,” instead, you provide service. You give. You develop that bond of trust and familiarity so people know you, like you, trust you. Ultimately, I think you wind up with people coming to you for business, rather than you going out to find them.

Social media allows you to brand yourself in ways never possible before. When you’re branding yourself, you’re sharing content in one form or another. That content needs to be enlightening or educational or entertaining. When you want to capture people’s attention, you’ve got to target one of those 3 things, because that is what they want.

When you share that type of information consistently with your audience via social media - and it doesn’t have to be your own content, it can be links to other good content - you brand your name once again into your followers’ minds.

It gives them reason to trust you, once they start connecting you to quality time after time after time. You’re not out there pitching things. Instead, you’re giving them enlightening, educational or entertaining content that is of interest to them. And they will find your big red “BUY” button without you having to push it in their face.

MAJOR POINT: You may have heard the term “social media marketing”. You need to understand that no order of marketing can take place until you have engaged in “social media networking” first. Marketing can never precede networking

The Right Database Entry Interface For Your Needs

Thursday 27 November 2008 @ 3:10 am

Choosing which Database Entry Interface to use is one of the most important decisions that you can make as a database designer. The right platform can make Database Entry Interface a breeze, and the wrong platform can make Database Entry Interface a chore. Because the program that you use to collect data with is such a powerful part of your Database Entry Interface experience, it is
well worth putting in the time to find a platform that provides your ideal balance between a user-friendly interface and a flexible framework that allows you to make your interface look and feel unique. Finding the right platform isn’t always easy, but with a little bit of contemplation and a little bit of research, you will be on your way to finding the perfect Database Entry Interface.

Deciding what your priorities are in terms of ease of use versus customization. If you are new to database design and to internet technology, you might want to sacrifice the ability to create a custom interface design or to integrate a unique set of functions into your data-collection-template in order to find a program that will be easy for you to use. On the other hand, if you are a veteran web and/or database designer with knowledge of html or sql, you will probably find the limitations of a user-friendly platform to be frustrating.

There is no such thing as a Database Entry Interface that is objectively the best platform, because every database using business has unique needs. The Database Entry Interface concept is very much about individuality, so it makes plenty of sense that there would be many different platforms available that are designed to meet the needs of different kinds of individuals undertaking different kinds of projects. This diversity is a good thing, because it means that you will almost certainly be able to find a program that suits your level of technical aptitude.

However, the fact that no two database users need the same thing from a Database Entry Interface can make your search for the right platform a bit tricky. When you are reading reviews of different platforms, try to keep your priorities in mind and do your best to take into account the position that the reviewer is coming from. For example, a negative review written by an accomplished software designer who complains that a popular platform is too limited may tell you that the platform in question is ideal for a beginning database user. There is no such thing as the perfect platform for everybody, so instead of looking for the “best” platform, look for the best platform for your specific criteria.

To help you in your research, you might find some good ideas from the articles posted at blog websites such as Database Solutions, Database Mapping and Smart Databases .

High School Musical Three Dance Mat & Toys

Wednesday 26 November 2008 @ 2:40 am

Disney’s “High School Musical 3″ has been likened to the 70s hit movie “Grease”. “High School Musical” started out quite humbly on cable TV in the US a couple of years ago, but became immensely popular with the kids. Now, in its third year, it has hit the big screen, and the ‘threequel’ has developed into something of a phenomenon sweeping the world. The story revolves around a group of kids at East High School, they are in their senior, final year and having to adjust to leaving the school and moving on. The main protagonists are Gabriella the brain box, Troy the basketball star, or just maybe, a candidate for the Juilliard School for the Performing Arts, Sharpay, Ryan, and others. They are all squeaky clean as is the whole production, and since kids tend to identify quite strongly with them, their parents probably feel that that is no bad thing..

This year, “High School Musical 3″ does look set to be very popular amongst the top Christmas gifts and toys of 2008. These will include the High School Musical 3 Dance Mat which comes with 4 of the ten new songs from the musical, and of course, the High School Musical Fashion Dolls featuring some of the movie’s main characters, namely;

Concerning The Newest Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner

Thursday 6 November 2008 @ 8:29 pm

Most online stores sell both original and replacement Rainbow vacuum water basins for the unit. You would think that getting a Rainbow sweeper these days should be easy. You are right, it is easy. You just have to check out all of your options.

The current models are heavy but still easy to move around. However, the first Rainbow vacuum sweeper was made out of pot metal and was extremely easy to move around the house.

The Rainbow vacuum sweeper is known for it’s reliability, long life and unique filtration system. It usually comes with many attachments and is known for its ultra quiet operation. Rainbow vacuums use a system where dirt is filtered through a water reservoir in a 2 quart water basin.

“Does The Rainbow Vacuum Suck Up Your Fleas?

Wednesday 5 November 2008 @ 3:17 am

I remember doing a demonstration one time at an upper middle class home in a very nice community a few years ago. The house was quite new and looked very nice and clean on the inside even though they had two small dogs.

They were extremely upset after I vacuumed a small area of their carpet and then showed them what was in it. The water had turned muddy as usual but what shocked them the most was the fact that the water also contained a bunch of newly drowned fleas. Needless to say, they bought a unit for their family that night.

Yes, the Rainbow vacuum does vacuum up dust mites, fleas, and lots of other nasty things and puts them where they belong… in the water.

Causes of Childhood Obesity

Wednesday 5 November 2008 @ 2:34 am

Childhood obesity has become an epidemic in the United States. Today over nine million children over the age of six are considered obese. Childhood obesity is caused by many different factors including environmental, social and genetic. This article will discuss each of these causes and what you can do as a parent to prevent obesity in your children.

The environment in which your child lives could contribute to childhood obesity. Today many streets, towns and suburbs are designed to discourage walking and other physical activities. Only about 1 child out of every 5 in the US will participate in some form of extra-curricular physical activity outside of school.

The slowing down of the US economy and the rise in gas prices is forcing families to cut expenses. One expense that more and more families are cutting back on is their grocery bill. They are purchasing more convenience foods that are high in fat and have very little nutritional value. These foods are usually easy to prepare or require no preparation at all. The economic slowdown is also effecting the cost of produce. This is also effecting American families as they are not able to afford these nutritious foods anymore. Instead they are turning to canned and processed foods.

Some school districts in the United States are facing severe budget cuts. These districts are forced to cut back their physical education programs and after school sports. This is resulting in fewer opportunities for children to participate in physical activities.

Leisure time that was once spent outdoors playing today is replaced with video games, DVDs, and over 100 channels on the television. With a culture that embraces Hannah Montana, and Sesame Street our children are encouraged to watch their favorite television show instead of meeting friends at a local park for a ball game after school.

As a parent and US consumer what can you do to reverse this trend? You can begin by taking a close look at your family’s budget. Being able to afford the healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables for your children should be a priority. Ask yourself these questions. What expenses can you cut? Do you really need those extra 100 channels on your television? Or would it be more beneficial to your family’s health if you went back to “rabbit ears?” Do you need two vehicles? Could you trade one in for a hybrid or a vehicle with a lower monthly payment? Sit down with your spouse and go over all of your expenses. Whatever you are able to cut should be added to your grocery bill. Including fresh fruits and vegetables in your children’s diet is very important in the prevention of childhood obesity.

Encourage physical activity at home and throughout your neighborhood. Let other families in your neighborhood know that for example, on Fridays after school the kids are going to play baseball at the park. Make sure every kid in the neighborhood is invited. Set some rules in your own home. Tell your children that if they don’t spend at least an hour outside riding their bike, or playing a sport or some other physical activity they can not watch their favorite television show or play their favorite video game.

If your school district is facing budget cuts and the possibility of cutting back on after school sports or their physical education program go to the next school board meeting. Speak up at the meeting and tell them that you oppose the idea of such cut backs. Get signatures from other parents who feel the same way. If you speak up the school board might find a way to keep those programs and cut something else instead.

Always show a good example. Make sure you are eating the right foods and exercising regularly. A child that is used to seeing his or her parent sit on the couch all day is going to do the same thing. If you eat convenience foods and McDonald’s all the time your child is going to think that is okay as well. Clean out your pantry and get throw out all your junk food. If you are not exercising on a regular basis join your local YMCA or health and fitness club. Ending this epidemic needs to start in every household in America.
